About Muslim Mental Health Care
Established in 1996 with funding from East London and City Health Authority (ELCHA) the Mental Health Project of NLMCC seeks to identify and address the particular mental health need of Hackney’s Large Asian and Muslim community. Now funded by Hackney Councils’ Adult Community Services and renamed Muslim Mental Health Care, the project has established itself as a central service in Hackney’s mental health strategy.
The aim of the project is to provide support predominately to adults over 18 years of age with Mental Health difficulties and also provide support to their carers.
The service has established itself as the central point of contact for the Muslim community when faced to deal with the problems entailing mental health illnesses, by providing a culturally and religiously aware service, tackling problems from the root.
If you are interested on learning more about Hackney Muslim Mental Health Care, or would like to know more about how to refer users to the service, please get in touch with the Mental Health Worker based with the project, who would be pleased to help you.
