The NLMCC’s Sure Start Service celebrated it’s first anniversary in November 2003. Over 100 mothers and 270 children have used our services within the year. Muslim mothers from within the Sure Start area who have officially registered with our service receive regular updates from Sure Start staff with letters and bulletins posted directly to their homes. The wider community though, from within the Muslim community and outside it, largely does not know of the various services we offer, and the achievements we have made to date. This is the reason why we have decided to issue the NLMCC Sure Start Service Update - a newsletter we hope to issue at least twice a year so that everyone is aware of our service, and those Muslim families in the Sure Start area that are not already registered with us can see what is on offer.

Hand ShakeIn this edition we offer you a variety of articles covering all aspects of our service, giving you an insight into the NLMCC Sure Start service. Inside you will find detailed information on our project and services, success stories of local users, and colourful pictures of our facilities. More than anything, we would like the community to know that the services we offer are shaped by and for you. The NLMCC’s Sure Start team is always open to suggestions from users. If you have any ideas on how we can improve our services than please feel free to contact us.

We hope you enjoy reading this issue, and we also welcome contributions for future issues.
