The Elderly Peoples Luncheon Club

The NLMCC has been providing an Elderly Luncheon Club for over 60’s since its inception in 1984.
The men’s luncheon club operates on Friday evenings from 8pm.
The ladies luncheon club operates from 2-6 pm on Sunday.

The purpose of the clubs are to:

  • 1) Provide a social and lunch club for isolated, older people from the Muslim communities in Hackney
  • 2) To prevent social isolation
  • 3) To promote independent living
  • 4) To assist older people from the Muslim communities to access appropriate statutory services.

Some of the services/activities we deliver are:
-    Full healthy balanced meals
-    Health workshops delivered by health professionals
-    Day trips to various places of interest
-    Urdu Poetry workshops/recitals
-    Library/reading room for users to come and read from the available books and newspapers.
-    A place to meet, interact with and befriend other people.
-    Friendly, general advice and support form our volunteers on issues and concerns the users may have.
-    Signposting elderly users to statutory services and bodies for specialist help.
