“Working for the fair representation, vocalisation and the social betterment of the Muslim community”
i-Help | Initiative for Hackney Empowerment, Leadership & Partnership for Hackney Muslim Youth
This programme is designed to build the capacity of the Muslim youth community in Hackney via a focus on the future leaders of the community.
To realise their full potential, leaders within the Muslim youths in Hackney need to be able to engage, participate and contribute to the mainstream society. This requires both the ability to confidently and competently represent ones interests but also the ability to effectively engage, empathise and be informed of the system and environment they are operating in.
Effective leaders have a strategic ability to know what needs doing, understand the people and organisational processes that will get things done and follow ethical and social justice principles to achieve their objectives. Knowing oneself and others, forms a critical part of this process as well as the ability to reach out and connect with relevant stakeholders. Having good leadership and ‘leader-full’ organisations are critical to the success of the Muslim youths in Hackney and this programme is designed to help in the personal development of young Muslims who are grounded in community life to achieve this. The programme aims to develop the type of leaders that will enable the Muslim youths in Hackney to develop strategies to contribute fully for the common good of both the Muslim and mainstream societies.
Our aims and objectives are to encourage young people to be more actively involved in Muslim community work motivate them to be keen to develop capacity leadership by providing them with a progression pathway programme which we intend to tailor according to their needs allowing the project to be stimulating, insightful and challenging. We aim to encourage active participation of young people living in Hackney, in Muslim community activities as well as encourage high education for future leaders.
