Youth Services

The NLMCC Youth Centre operates between 5pm-8pm on Monday to
Thursday and 2pm-8pm on Saturday.

Through funding from Hackney Council the NLMCC has been running a dedicated youth club since its inception in 1984 at the address of 68 Cazenove Road. Initially this project was aimed to cater for the recreational needs of the Muslim youth. The club provided sporting facilities for Snooker, Football, Table Tennis, Cricket, Gym work etc.

Gradually the club began to develop play schemes for younger children from the ages of 5 to 16 during the school holidays and has gone on to create competitive football and cricket teams that participate in tournaments, take youth on day trips and residential trips in the UK and abroad.

Currently the Youth Centre continues to provide sporting facilities. The youth workers will now also be on hand to identify individuals with educational and training needs to give them the appropriate guidance and / or refer them to the appropriate organisations / council departments through which they can pursue these needs.

Furthermore the Youth Centre will stage advice sessions / presentations from external bodies that advise young people on health issues i.e. obesity, substance misuse, smoking, sexual health etc. as well as moral guidance with the aim to make the youth users fully integrated citizens of Hackney and wider society.
