The role of the steering group is to manage the start up process, assisted by a development officer. Their purpose was to identify methods to develop youth community involvement, empowering themselves as well as other young people to make key decisions in relations to youth provision and act as a 'shadow' of the management committee.

Method of selection

The interest in the I-help Project was grater then expected. From the first capacity building event 27 young people showed enthusiasm to be part of the steering group. We wanted to give all the young people the opportunity to take part so we devised an interview panel, which was comprised of four representatives from the NLMCC Ismail Amaan, Munaf Zeena, Siraj Gajia and Haroon Alibhai and The Chairman of Tawhid Boys School Abdul Gani Alibhai.  Group tasks, presentation as well as the diagnostics were used to help the Interview panel select 12 young people.
