The NLMCC’s Hackney Muslim Youth forum (HMY) started in 2006 with a boys youth forum. This expanded in 2008 with the establishment of a girls youth forum in 2008.

The purpose of these youth forums is to give local Muslim youth the opportunity and responsibility to develop and improve services, activities, events and opportunities for youth in the local community. The HMY is a source of empowerment, it allows young people to feel important and gives them the confidence that they can affect development and change to areas that they feel passionate about.

The youth have raised around £40k in 3 years since the forum was established in 2006 for local based projects.
